"Love is solar powered"
Uptown Sun is a heartwarming novel about grief, healing, and the complexities of love, set in the small, rural town of Cherry Rows, Australia. Natalie Holiday has spent a decade trapped in the shadow of her high school boyfriend’s death, convinced that moving on would be a betrayal. When she meets Pastor Evander Summerfield, she’s forced to confront a terrifying choice: stay bound by the past in order to keep Adam’s memory alive, or open her heart to a new romance. Torn between guilt and the possibility of new love, Natalie must decide if she’s willing to let go of the grief that has defined her.
You will love this book if you enjoy: Clean romance, Christian fiction with a little bit of grit, small town romance, rural Australia, and quirky characters.
Kaylee May is an author from Queensland, Australia. She is in her early thirties and spends most of her time being a mum. Her novel Uptown Sun debuted in January, 2025. However, she has earlier works: Bloody Provoked (a very, VERY short horror anthology) and a short story hidden in the library of the video game We Are Not Alone, in which she also voice acts the main character.
Her current projects include:
Mermaids With An S (working title) - A novelisation of her existing short story: A nautical-conspiracy horror story set in an Australian town that was slowly dying after it's sealife industry began to fail. William Mortlock returns home after his parent's death, deciding to visit the last remaining tourist attraction: the mermaid show at the aquarium. He later runs into the performer and asks her for more information about her mermaiding hobby, and she provides him with a link to more information. Perhaps it was a lapse in concentration, but a typo in the URL sends Will to a website with strange hoax footage of human experimentation. When he recognises the background of the blurry videos, and notices a pattern of deaths around town, he begins to doubt the special effects. Even worse, it appears the makers of the films have noticed their new audience member...
A Witch's Heart Most Valuable (working title): A Young Adult Paranormal Romance based off Kaylee's draft novella In The Murk. The three days of darkness descend upon the earth as Cerise is meeting up with her friends for their weekly movie night at the shopping centre. The only one who knows the rules to survive is a strange, young man who ran into the theatre covered in blood. To make matters worse, there are already demons prowling indoors. They could smell a witch—more importantly, they could smell her heart. Unfortunately, Cerise is quite attached to her heart. She saw what happened when her mother gave hers away...
Blood, Repeating. (working title): Epic Fantasy Specfic. In the lands of The Hourglass, the three southern communities have lived in peace. Death is a natural consequence to life, and never dealt out prematurely by man. That is, until Shemras Burdgen was found in a field, prophecying the death of his leader, Shene Angmorn. After all, everyone knows the only way to kill a prophecy is to kill a prophet. Of course, others are less willing to take a life so swiftly, but Shene is ready to make sure that Shemras—the bastard—will hang.
